Pro-Palestine activists are successfully blocked an Israeli ship from docking at the Port of Oakland for the fourth day in a row. This footage taken yesterday, Monday 18 August, of the protest against Israel’s actions towards Gaza. The “block the boat” protest started when around 4,000 demonstrators marched to the San Francisco bay on Saturday with the intention of stopping a commercial Israeli cargo vessel from docking and unloading goods. Smaller groups of around 100 people coming again on Sunday and Monday.
The protest was part of a series of plans by U.S. and Canadian activist organisations across the west coast to boycott the importation of Israeli goods. It has also been staged in response to a call from Palestinian and South African unions to hold Israel accountable for violations of Palestinians’ human rights.
The BDS campaign launched was launched by members of the Palestinian civil society in 2005, calling for boycotts, divestment and sanctions on Israel in a bid to end its occupation of Palestinian land. A similar action took place in 2010 when the International Longshoremen and the Warehousemen Unions co-operated by refusing to unload a Zim cargo ship following Israel’s deadly 2010 raid on the Mavi Marmara, a Turkish humanitarian naval convoy attempting to bring aid to Gaza.
Liberals and Nazi Muslims are behind this.
