An Open Letter to a Racist – Penelope Cruz
Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are among several Spanish actors who signed the strongly wordedletter last week, which accused Israel of Genocide and also called on the European Union to condemn Israel’s military actions. Veteran American actor Jon Voight blasted both actors for being hypocrites and ignorant. Cruz later sought to soften her stance on the issue after receiving harsh backlash for the letter. I think the damage was already done and no apology will make up for such words.
So here’s an open letter to Penelope Cruz:
Dear Penelope,
I used to really like you. That is, I used to like your work. Your performance in “Blow” with Johnny Depp was great. But then, you just had to open your mouth, or open a piece of paper and take a pen to write about your opinion and support of Gaza.
Do you know that three innocent young Jewish boys were killed recently? Two of them were 16 and the other was 19. They weren’t killed because they did anything to hurt the society. They were killed because they were Jewish. Then, a young Muslim boy was murdered for being gay. I really thought we were all over the gay issue now that we are in the 21st century, but I guess not.
