(Before It's News)

A British archeology TV show reproduced and fired the Livens Large Gallery Flame Projector, a massive flamethrower used by the British during WWI.

“Time Team” created the monstrous machine after historians from Glasgow University’s Center for Battlefield Archeology found several pieces buried in Mametz, France, in 2010. Once it was up and running, the team unleashed a mixture of kerosene and diesel fuel that reached out to 130 feet away, SPLOID reports.

The Large Gallery Flame Projector was created with one soul purpose: stop advancing troops in their tracks. The contraption was used only twice during the War and had such devastating effects that it was later banned.
