A toddler was left fighting for her life after suffering a massive allegic reaction to a child’s dose of Nurofen.

Just hours after two-year-old Macey Marsh was given the medicine as advised by a family GP, her face broke out in hundreds of agonising sores and blisters.

Now, after ten days in intensive care, doctors say it’s “a miracle” she is alive, and even now her eyesight could be permanently damaged.

They gave Macey the medicine and put her to bed, but when Sarah checked on her in the morning her condition was worse and her eyes were completely glued shut with mucus.

Her parents took her to the A&E at St Peter’s Hospital, near their home in Chertsey, Surrey.

Medics diagnosed scarlet fever and sent her away with penicillin. By the next morning, Sarah was shocked to see the tot’s face was completely covered in gruesome blisters. Read more

Mr Marsh, 37, a photographer, said: ‘It was terrifying and an emotional rollercoaster.

‘There were times when we were unsure if our little girl would pull through at all, let alone with her eyesight intact. Read more
