TND Podcast Spotlight: Jay Taylor’s Turning Hard Times Into Good Times |
On this week’s show, Rick Rule, Bill Laggner, Daniel McAdams and David Jensen return.
During the 70s your host and Rick Rule witnessed a breathtaking gold bull market as the yellow metal rocketed from $35 to $850 (January 1980). But the current gold bull, which advanced 10 straight years before taking a breather in 2013, may eclipse the 1970’s mania given that the ongoing demolition of the dollar and a U.S. economy is far weaker and much more addicted to debt than in the 1970s. Rick Rule whom Doug Casey says is the greatest stock picker in the world will return to talk about the gold market and how he is picking stocks in this environment.
Bill Laggner, of the Bearing Fund, gives his thoughts on the debt, equity and currency market. He believes we are on the verge a sovereign credit bubble collapse.
Daniel and David will be with me in the second hour to provide updates on the fast moving geopolitical world and how they are affecting the markets.

Rick Rule
Rick Rule is the Chairman and Founder of Global Resource Investments LP. Mr. Rule and his firm are successfully involved in the natural resources industries investing on a worldwide basis. Mr. Rule is a well known conference speaker, noted for his contrarian, counter-cyclical investment techniques. Mr. Rule and his firm believe that the resource industry investor and speculator are at the dawn of the greatest speculative epoch of his career. Today, he manages close to a billion dollars focused on the mining sector through investment partnerships, an investment management firm and his brokerage firm. His knowledge and exploration acumen makes him a sought after man for advice and as a speaker at conferences. He candidly speaks to both from a position of almost unmatched experience, reputation, and knowledge.
Bill Laggner
Bill Laggner went into the investment industry in the late 1980s, initially as a stockbroker; then moved to the buy side at Fidelity Investments out of Houston, TX. Kevin Duffy and Bill Laggner are the brains behind the Bearing Fund. Bill met Kevin in the ’90s and both cut their investing teeth on the short side of the tech bubble markets which imploded in 2000. Bearing Asset Management was formed in 2002. Bearing created the “Bearing Credit Bubble Index” in 2003, which identified the credit enablers of the biggest private sector bubble over the last 100 years. This allowed Bearing Fund to capitalize on the unwind of the last bubble while positioning the fund for the third and final bubble, the sovereign, stimulus bubble currently underway.
Daniel McAdams
Daniel McAdams is Executive Director of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity. He served as foreign affairs advisor to US Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) from 2001 until Dr. Paul’s retirement at the end of 2012. He also served as special rapporteur for the British Helsinki Human Rights Group while based in Europe, monitoring human rights and elections on the ground in various contentious states, including Albania during the 1996-1998 civil unrest, Montenegro, Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, Croatia, and Slovakia. He was a Phillips Foundation Journalism Fellow (1998-2000) and an American Swiss Foundation “Young Leader” (2006). He holds a BA in English from the University of California at Berkeley and completed coursework for a Master’s in international relations.
Merk’s insight and expertise have allowed him to predict major economic developments (he identified the credit bubble and moved his clients out of real estate and the faltering U.S. dollar, into hard currencies and gold ahead of the equity and credit market collapse of last decade).
