Most of the time, this totalitarian regime put restrictions on all media types, including the Internet. That is why, visiting websites or social media networks, posting personal information online, and any blogging activity, is illegal. There are punishments for all the people who are not respecting these rules, and most of the times they end up in prisons.

In Turkmenistan, people think that the Internet is a luxury, because it has a very high price. Actually, it is only a strategy of the government to make people not to use the Internet. Also, the government is the only Internet provider in the entire country, and many websites are blocked anyway. People from Turkmenistan have their emails monitored, no matter if they are using Yahoo, Gmail, or Hotmail. Also, all the humanitarian organization websites are blocked. The news agencies are censored as well, and any try to access it leads to serious consequences.
The Vietnamese government asked websites like Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo to give all the information related to the bloggers and users who access their platforms. There is even an agency that monitors the entire content posted online by Vietnamese people, blocking all the websites that try to criticize the government. Also, if you want to visit an Internet Café in Syria, you will be asked to give all the personal information, including your name and your reason to use the internet. It will be all transmitted to the government.
Even if China is such a big country, they have an extremely rigid internet censorship program. It includes all the search engines, many website, and any information which is against the government. Also, users are monitored constantly. That is not all: China blocked all the content related to the Tibetan and Taiwan independence, the brutality of the police, and even pornography and international news websites.
