The world is our home, and every person around the world should have the same benefits, opportunities, and changes, no matter in which country we are born. Unfortunately, the situation is not exactly like this. There are many still developing countries that are facing serious social problems. All these countries, and especially the people who live there, need our help and our support.
It is not a local problem; it is a problem of the humanity, of the entire world. Here are the most significant 10 pressing social issues of the world:
Many countries around the world are having serious poverty issues. Actually, the poverty is the reason due to some countries call third world countries. But what is poverty? According to the United Nations standard, people who are living with $2.5 per day or less are considered poor. If they live with $1.25 per day or less, it is considered extreme poverty. Unfortunately, poverty is a massive problem of the world, and around 1 billion of the people who live in poverty are innocent children. 22.000 of these children die every day due to poverty.
Can you imagine being thirsty, and not having water to drink? What would you do in this case? We know it sounds impossible, but actually it happens to millions of people every day. They don’t have water, and they cannot buy it. There is no solution for this unbearable thirst. Statistics showed around a billion of people do not have drinking water and no access to it; 400 million of them are children.
The electricity became an important part of our lives, but more than a quarter of the entire population of the world lives without any electricity. They got used to the darkness when the sun goes down, and actually with the eternal darkness of their fate. And this is sad. More than 1.6 billion of these people do not even know that electricity exists. For them, life is like in the Stone Age, and they have no idea about computers, internet, or such things.
Around half of the people who live in developing countries are completely depending on agriculture. People depend on it to survive and to have two meals per day. Also, 75 percent of the people who live in poverty are practicing agriculture. This percent represents 1.4 billion of people, including children, women, and men. At the international level, a lot of agriculture projects were developed, in order to train and empower all these farmers, but it will take some time to see the results.
HIV is one of the largest epidemic viruses in the third world countries. There are more than 40 million people who live with AIDS, and 65% of them are women. And the statistics are alarming: 90% of the children infected with HIV, and 60% of women, live in Africa, in the sub-Saharan region.
