Federal agents are looking for a Texas man who went into hiding after being sentenced to 63 years in prison on drug charges last week.

Matthew Nelson fled on the second day of his trial and was sentenced in absentia on Sept. 18.

Authorities were led to Nelson after investigating an robbery at the Cash America Pawn in Houston, which yielded an 18-year sentence for another man, Brian Keith Dickson, who pled guilty to aggravated robbery with a firearm.

Police executed a federal search warrant at Nelson’s residence and discovered ammunition, child pornography and drugs packaged for distribution, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said this week.

“We are grateful for the conviction of Mr. Nelson. When he is apprehended and brought forth to serve his sentence, justice will then be fully served,” said Robert Elder, ATF special agent in charge.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the whereabouts arrest of Matthew Nelson. Call 713-222-TIPS.
