Sure, the dude had a knife and at that point it’s justified to restrain the individual, but think about it. Is it really necessary to physically detain a non-violent criminal to begin with?
Wal-mart’s Loss Prevention “cop-wannabe’s” with their radios and handcuffs should stand back a bit and make sure they are not about to get stabbed. If they have to physically restrain a person who resists, maybe they should just call the cops and report that the subject stole a pack of gum. Follow him; identify him; report him, but once you put your hands on a person, anything can happen.
I’m sure that Wal-Mart corporate will have a fit when they see this. Their policy is to let a shoplifter go if they resist. Otherwise, Wal-Mart might as well protect their LP staff with MRAPS so as not to put their associates at risk of bodily harm.
