Adam Dimas, a senior at Standley Lake High School, spoke with The Anti-Media to clear up some mainstream misconceptions about the student protests occurring in Colorado and help inform readers about what they can do to help the students save history.
The reader should keep in mind that these answers came from a 17-year-old being subjected to the education system the board wants to change. While most of the country’s teens could tell you about their favorite celebrities and not much else, the Jefferson County School System is turning out students that understand the importance of education and history. There is no clearer sign that the curriculum should not be changed than the fact the students appear to be more educated than the school board.
The Interview:
So how did students find out about the proposed changes to the curriculum?
I am not 100 percent sure about how the students first discovered the proposal, but once the word was out, it spread like a wildfire throughout the student body.
To settle an accusation, who organized the walkout? Was it teachers, unions, or students?
I cannot stress this enough. This is a STUDENT [emphasis his] run protest. Mainstream media and other sources spout that it was all teacher run and the students where just sheep being lead by the heardsman, but that is a fallacy. The teacher call out was more of, or at least I feel, a distraction tactic to take away from the true cause we were fighting for.
