As Western Journalism reported this summer, conservative social media commentator Holly Fisher received a huge spike in popularity after posting an image that resonated with millions of Americans.

She spoke to Western Journalism about the backlash, noting that those closest to her were concerned for her safety.
“My friends are shocked,” she said in July. “I’ve got a lot of texts asking if I’m OK and people in disbelief about the things people say and how well I take it.”
Her mother went so far as to insist she invest in a security system. Fisher, on the other hand, was undeterred, focusing on the hundreds of thousands who shared her image.
“It really doesn’t bother me that some coward is hiding behind their keyboard thinking of rude things to say to some stranger,” she said.
