Over night the U.S. and a coalition of 5 Arab countries have launced an offensive on the Islamic State positions inside Syria. Conincidentially on the cusp of the autumnal equinox.

At the autumnal equinox in Sept., the Sun appears to cross the celestial equator, from north to south; this marks the beginning of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.
