Kate del Castillo Debuts in Hollywood Thriller “No Good Deed”
Mexican actress Kate del Castillo appeared in the U.S. premiere of the suspense thriller “No Good Deed,” her latest role in Hollywood movies, and says further films are not to be ruled out following the stardom she has achieved in the world of Spanish-language telenovelas.
“When they give you work in interesting projects, it’s important to do a little of everything. I live by this and put food on the table with this, so that any work is good, whether in Hollywood, Argentina or in Germany,” the actress told Efe in an interview.
The Mexican said that, while she doesn’t dismiss the possibility of acting more often in English-language films, she doesn’t plan to give up projects for her Latin American audience, since she receives offers of all kinds and takes her decisions based on “the role, the director, the actors and the story.”
In “No Good Deed,” the leading character, played by actor Idris Elba, is a psychopath who escapes from jail and goes hunting for the woman who was his girlfriend up to the time he landed behind bars, a character played by the Mexican actress.
“He’s the typical macho who says that if you’re not mine, you’re not anybody’s, and then it gets nasty,” said Del Castillo, who admits that her movie character has a lot in common with her own past, since she was also the victim of domestic violence, as she recounted in her book “Tuya” published in 2007.
“That is something terrible that is still going on…Women in love don’t realize the difference between love and abuse,” she said.
The movie “No Good Deed” premiered Friday in the United States, with a cast headed by actress Taraji Henson and actor Idris Elba.
