Obama sinks in new poll, American disapproval rises
As Barack Obama’s favorability rating plunges to all-time lows, the mainstream media has chosen to disregard the stark reality of his disapproval by the American people. A newly released Media Research Center study found that network evening newscasts have routinely buried negative poll results for Obama.
According to the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll, a mere 42 percent of respondents said they approved of Obama’s handling of his job as president, while 54 percent said they disapproved. Seventy-one percent of those polled expressed support for air strikes against jihadist terrorists in Iraq, up from 45 percent on June 22, almost two weeks after ISIS seized control of Iraq’s second-largest city, Mosul, and swept across northern Iraq.
As radical Islamic fundamentalists have begun systematically decapitating American non-combatant journalists and displaying the grisly videos, Americans expect a response from the president who has yet to identify these terrorists as Islamic jihadists.
These terrorists pose a threat much closer to home as Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah warned recently, saying the West —- Europe and America —- will be jihadists’ next target unless “rapid” action is taken.
Obama will address the nation during prime time tonight (6:00pm AZ time/9:00pm ET) on his strategy for dealing with the ISIS threat. He was roundly criticized for his August 28, public admission that “we don’t have a strategy yet.” (video clip)
Last January, he glibly dismissed ISIS —- the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria —- as the “junior varsity” of terrorist organizations, a statement he only recently retracted.
Yet in the face of the ongoing barbarous butchery, Obama has steadfastly refused to use the words “jihadist” and “Islamist,” or “war on terror” to describe the very real threat posed by violent and extreme adherents of radical Islam. How can he confront and hope to defeat that which he refused to acknowledge?
