A consortium that includes the Spanish unit of London-based consulting giant PricewaterhouseCoopers has been selected to conduct a preliminary study of the proposed Line 3 of the Lima metro, Peruvian private investment agency Proinversion said in a statement.
The consortium is led by France’s Ingerop and PwC and also includes Spanish transport infrastructure consultant Bustren, Italy’s Metropolitana Milanese and Peru’s Alpha Consult.
Under the terms of the $17.5 million contract, the consortium will assess the project’s feasibility, expected demand and technical and operating proposal, which contains the cost-benefit analysis.
The Ingerop- and PwC-led consortium beat out two other finalists for the contract.
Line 3 is one of six that are to make up the Lima metro’s basic network, according to 2010 projections; it will run from north to south and link at least six of the city’s districts.
Line 1 is the only one that has been completed, while construction is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks on the first stretch of Line 2, a project awarded in March to a consortium led by Spanish civil engineering companies ACS and FCC.
