Real Madrid announced on Thursday the extension of French defender Raphael Varane’s contract to June 30, 2020.
Varane joined the club at 18 in 2011, and has so far won five titles with the team: Champions League, European Super Cup, La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup.
His debut occurred in an away match against Racing de Santander on Sept. 21, 2011, which ended in a goalless draw.
In his first season under Jose Mourinho, he played 15 games and scored two goals, while in 2012/2013 he played 33 games and scored two goals.
During last season, in which he was hampered by injury, Varane played 23 games. He has played three matches so far in the current season.
