More than six months after Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared somewhere over the Indian Ocean, friends and family of the 239 people on board have waited tirelessly for answers. While the world watched, numerous recovery efforts have been launched to no avail.
As Western Journalism reported last week, even as a new attempt to find the wreckage is being developed by a Dutch firm, some experts believe the missing plane could be forever lost.
“I don’t want to create a false hope,” said Australian Transport Safety Bureau Chief Commissioner Martin Dolan.
He did, however, assert that the search will continue for what most investigators believe is a crash site. Some have suggested the flight was hijacked by terrorists, though, and actually landed safely in some undisclosed location where it awaits usage in a future attack.
In reality, all projections regarding the fate of MH370 amount to nothing more than conjecture, as none have resulted in any tangible evidence regarding the plane’s whereabouts.
Over the weekend, one high-ranking Indonesian law enforcement official claimed to know what truly happened to the doomed flight, though he declined to elaborate. General Sutarman, chief of the Indonesian Police Force, made his cryptic remarks in front of a group of fellow police officers and a number of individuals affiliated with one of the nation’s major airlines.
