A small plane carrying 10 people, including a boy, crashed in a jungle area in southern Colombia, aviation officials said.
The Navajo, which belonged to the Laser company, went down on Saturday shortly after its departure from the airport in Araracuara, a city in Caqueta province, the civil aviation agency said in a Twitter post.
The plane’s wreckage was found in a jungle area in neighboring Amazonas province, which is on the border with Peru and Brazil.
“Aircraft HK-4755 was found after an accident in Puerto Santander, Amazonas,” the civil aviation agency said.
Aviation officials, however, did not provide any information about the fate of the people aboard the small plane.
The air force launched a search on Saturday for the small plane, which took off from Araracuara at 2:50 p.m.
The plane, which was being flown by Luis Eduardo Patiño, arrived in Araracuara from Florencia, the capital of Caqueta.
The air force and the civil aviation agency are investigating the cause of the accident.
