Sofia Vergara Named Top-Earning Actress For Third Consecutive Year
Colombian-born Sofia Vergara, for the third consecutive year, is the highest-earning television actress in the United States, Forbes magazine said Wednesday.
The actress known for her role as the passionate Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the ABC comedy “Modern Family,” made $37 million between June 2013 and June 2014, with most of that total coming from endorsements and licensing contracts, according to Forbes.
Vergara, 42, is a successful businesswoman and cofounder of the Hispanic talent and entertainment agency Latin World Entertainment.
In second place on the Forbes list, far behind Vergara, is Mariska Hargitay of NBC’s Law and Order: who earned $13 million.
Kaley Cuoco dropped to third place this year, pocketing $11 million, something that should not concern the 28-year-old actress, according to Forbes, because she has a new contract with the producers of “The Big Bang Theory,” that, according to reports, guarantees her $1 million per episode.
Tied for fourth place, with $10 million in earnings, are Cobie Smulders of “How I Met Your Mother,” Ellen Pompeo of “Gray’s Anatomy” and “The Good Wife” star Julianna Margulies.
Smulders’ co-star Alyson Hannigan came in fifth, earning $9.5 million.
