The world would be a very sad place to live in if not for comedy films. But, comedy films would not be as funny as it is without the true talent of comedians that have shared their talents on screen. Here are the top 10 funniest comics in the world.

10. Eddie Murphy

An American comedian with a career that spans over three decades, Eddie Murphy has brought a Eddie Murphy name for himself after starring different roles in comedy films in the past thirty years. His career reached up to great heights by the time Beverly Hills Cop was released. He is also awriter, singer, and director. As of late, his career has dwindled and his latest movies have been flops but the great Eddie Murphy showed us another side of him with the movie Dream Girls. In this TV season, a spin-off of sorts from his Beverly Hills Cop movie was supposed to make it through to series but was cut short. He was also part of the ensemble of the great Saturday Night Live not long ago.

9. Jim Carrey

James Eugene Carrey was born on January 17, 1962 and has made different types of comedy brands such as Dumb and Dumber, The Mask, and Ace Ventura. He also delved into dramatic movies such as The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind which garnered a cult following. Although he has recently played with dramatic roles, Jim Carrey will always prove to have the funny bone when he is set to co-star in the sequel of Kick Ass this year as well as the well-received The Incredible Burt Wonderstone alongside co-lister Steve Carell. he has also starred as the Grinch in How The Grinch Stole Christmas as well as the blockbuster hit Bruce Almighty.

8. Steve Carell

Steven John Carell is an American comedian born on August 16, 1962. He was part of the show Steve CarellThe Daily Show With Jon Stewart and later rose to fame when he garnered the lead in the TV series remake of The Office for the US audience. Aside from doing TV shows, he has also reached the movies with leads in films such as The 40 Year Old Virgin, Crazy Stupid Love, Get Smart, and Date Night as well as lending his voice to the animated movie Despicable Me. He is currently married to Nancy Walls whom he met during his stint as a teacher at an improvisation class.

7. Ben Stiller

Benjamin Edward Stiller is the son of comedian legends Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. Born in November 30, 1965, he comes from a lineage that is bound to put him in the spotlight as one of the greatest and funniest comedians of all time even surpassing his parents. He is an actor, director, and producer as well but his strengths lies on his ability to provide high quality comedic acts based on movies like Dodgeball, Tropic Thunder, Night At The Museum, and The Madagascar animated series. He first played alongside Cameron Diaz in the widely successful There’s Something About Mary which skyrocketed his career in Hollywood. Since then, he has had more than a couple of comedic roles under his belt.

6. Robin Williams

Robin Williams was bound to be a comedy legend. Born July 21, 1951, he was an American actor, voice actor, and stand up comedian who was meant to star in roles in critically acclaimed films such as Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, and Happy Feet. He also delved in fantasy films such as Aladdin, Popeye, Hook, and Jumanji. He was nominated for Best Actor in the Oscars three times and won the Best Supporting Actor with his work on Good Will Hunting. But, his heart is set on comedy as his work on Mrs. Doubtfire put him in the spotlight as the go-to guy for comedy. In the early years of his career, he was cast as the lead for the spin-off entitled Mork and Mindy which ran for several years. Unfortunately, the beloved Robin Williams passed away at the age of 63 in August 2014 as a result of an apparent suicide. He leaves behind millions of fans as well as three children and a wife.

  • This isn’t just a bad list, this is a TERRIBLE list. Whoever comprised the list is one self-important individual, who, in my opinion, has no clue as to what makes for a really good comedian. Reading this was a complete and utter waste of my time.
