Irek got married just a few months ago to a French woman, Antonia, whom he met in college in Switzerland. Antonia was to accompany her husband on the flight to Kazan. Fortunately, Irek didn’t take his wife, 8-months pregnant with their first child, citing that it was not a good idea.
Another heartbreaking story. Mstislav Kamashev, a young prodigy and graduate of Kazan’s prestigious Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics. By age 4, he was able to count to 100 in English, and was able to speak a 1,000 English words. He entered university when he was 13 and instantly became a Russian celebrity. Several months ago the Kamashev got married. On the eve of the trip, his wife told him that she was pregnant. The couple was expecting their first child.
Husband and wife, Aleksandr Yankilajkis and Elena Kuznetsova, from Udmurtia, were also among the passengers onboard the Boeing 737 that were killed. Their only son has lost both parents in the tragedy. They were just two of many young parents who lost their lives in this crash.
“We will not land” were the last words the chief pilot told a traffic controller at the Kazan airport. The airplane tried to land twice before it crashed and exploded vertically.
Unfortunately, this is not the only plane crash that our world has endured. It might just sound rude to say that in the wake of a tragedy, but I believe that all accidents are preventable. Each one should teach us about improving our technology and our standards to ensure such a catastrophe does not happy again.
The focus of this article is on the lone survivors of plane crashes. There is really nothing to feel so excited about. But there are certain things that make me proud of these people that they did not lose hope or the courage when there was some serious risk posed to their lives. I can only imagine the guilt, the trauma, the survivor guilt syndrome they feel after being involved in such a horrific accident.
