A woman who was sexually assaulted by a former sheriff’s deputy has filed a lawsuit against Carter County.
In a motion filed in U.S. District Court on Sept. 12, Brandy Bond and a female minor who was present at the time of the assault, names former Deputy Sheriff Matthew Morrison, Sheriff Casey Brammell, and Judge-Executive Charles Wallace as the county’s chief executive officer.
Morrison, Brammell and Wallace are named in their official capacities. Morrison also is named as an individual.
Morrison pleaded guilty to amended charges in his criminal case last week.
As part of his plea agreement, the original charge of first degree sodomy, a Class B felony, was reduced to official misconduct, a Class A misdemeanor. MOREHERE
