Although this newly elected 23-year-old state legislator is in Florida, her commitment to conservative principles resonates all the way across the country to Arizona.
Jennifer Sullivan, a home-schooled youth development leader still living in her family home, easily won the District 31 seat over four other Republican candidates. Incumbent Bryan Nelson is termed out. The Orlando Sentinel reports she was widely viewed as the most conservative choice in the race, which included Randy Glisson, a chiropractor, whose father had served in both the Florida Senate and House; Terri Seefeldt, who received the endorsement of former Rep. Bryan Nelson and Belita “B” Grassel, former teachers’ union leader.
Sullivan, the daughter of a local Tea Party founder, works for TeenPact, a faith-based organization that conducts leadership training courses for politically conservative teenagers. Working at their national headquarters, she developed curriculum instrumental in teaching youth the proper role of government.
Florida Right to Life PAC and the National Rifle Association/Unified Sportsmen of Florida each gave Jennifer Sullivan their highest rating.
Referring to her grassroots victory over well-funded opponents, Sullivan said, “I hope that this would not just inspire my generation, but inspire all Americans that freedom is not dead and you can truly work hard, build relationships and anything is possible.”
Check out the District 31 State Representative election results. Jennifer Sullivan was the runaway winner. Democrats did not field a candidate, so Sullivan’s primary win ensures her seat.
