(Before It's News)

This is alittle list I thought I’d put together for Halloween.  In this list you will find some of the most cruelest, unusual, spookiest royals and nobility the world has ever known.  Some you may have heard of…

1.   Vlad lll, Prince of Wallachia

Vlad Tepes 002.jpg

They call him ‘Vlad the Impaler’ for a reason.  In his lifetime it is thought that he had impaled and killed between 40,000 and 100,000 people.  There is a story that when the greatest Turkish Sultan in history, Mehmet II, conqueror of Constintanople, stood outside the gates of Vlad’s capital cityTârgoviște, he was met by the sight of 20,000 impaled Turkish corpses. He turned around and went back home without a fight.

2.  Countess Elizabeth Báthory

Elizabeth Bathory Portrait.jpg

The most prolific female serial killer in history, the Countess and her accomplices are said to have killed upwards of 650 people in a span of 25 years.  Legend has it that she bathed in the blood of her victims in order for her to stay young.

3. Gilles de Montmorency-Laval, Baron De Rais

A companion-in-arms to Joan of Arc, Baron De Rais was nicnamed ‘Bluebeard’ for his crimes committed against children.  After several attempts at trying to raise demons from hell, De Rais went on a killing spree. He killed between 80 and 200 children randing from the ages of 6 to 18 and included both sexes.  This monster was hanged and burned to death.

4. Johann Georg Fuchs von Dornheim, Prince-Bishop of Bamberg

The ‘Witch Bishop’ presided over the killings of hundreds of supposed witches in his lands from 1626 to 1631. Anywheres from 300 to 600 people were put to death by this man.  He was so into being a witch hunter that he had a ‘Witch House’ built complete with a torture chamber adorned with the appropriate biblical texts.

5. Vseslav of Polotsk, Grand Prince of Kiev

This guy was a known sorcerer and perhaps even a honest to goodness werewolf, or at least thats what a 12th century epic says…
