Police have responded this morning to a man with a gun making threats at a Virginia community college. (Photo: NBC12)
Authorities report that a subject was detained Thursday morning at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond after allegedly entering the school armed and yelling threats.
According to local media reports, Richmond police are making clear that no shots were fired and there was never an active shooter situation. The subject, whose name has not been released, is stated as being know to police and is being questioned by detectives.
At 10:30 a.m., the school posted a security alert advising that those on campus should shelter in place and those then not at the school should stay away.
The campus, a downtown satellite of the school located near the Richmond Coliseum, is still under lock down while, “A precautionary search is being conducted.”
