British MPs Pass Non-Binding Motion To Recognise Palestine

British MPs have voted overwhelmingly in favor of recognizing Palestine as a state. A non-binding motion calls on the government to recognize Palestine as a state. The House of Commons debate was initiated by Labour MP Grahame Morris, who said that Britain has a moral responsibility to act because of its history as a colonial power in the region. Supporters of the motion said a successful vote would send a strong message that Palestinian rights are recognized, and that the illegal Israeli settlements have no validity.
