This video was uploaded to Facebook by Feras Deeb (https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=…) on September 21, 2014, at 7:45pm with the description هذا ما عثر عليه في الأردن قبل يومين or “This is what was found in Jordan
two days ago.” It shows a chamber with two Egyptian style mummies and associated burial goods. There appears to be a male mummy with a false beard and clutching two scrolls. Writing is visible through the dust covering the mummy at the start of the video.
This first mummy is surrounded with golden artifacts, including canopic jars, a statue of Anubis over a mummy, and various statues. The room then transitions to stone and wooden statuary and what appears to be a female mummy. Both mummies are encircled with ushabti. Human remains are scattered between the two mummies, numbering at least two individuals. There appears to be a second chamber, beyond the one the video tours. The tomb is composed of natural rock which has been modified and extended, with mortar in at least two locations. The tomb is well lit from artificial light and recorded with a low end camera.
Very elaborate forgeries have come out of Jordan in the last decade (such as the lead codices) and this is likely such a case. The only mention of a mummy traveling from Egypt to (ancient) Jordan is the embalmed body of Jacob, which Joseph took to be buried to Abraham and Isaac in the ancestral cave tomb (the Cave of the Patriarchs under the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron).
The footage may actually be from Egypt, where widespread looting has occurred in the last few years.
