Happiness As It Is

You ask Me for happiness. It is My desire that you be happy, yet you do not always recognize happiness where it’s right here before you.
 
Yes, of course, happiness is relative. What makes you happy today may become ordinary to you next week. What gives you happiness may not be what makes someone else happy. To someone, a crust of bread may be happiness. To you, a crust of bread may not be relished. You may even cut crusts off bread without a backward glance.
 
What you require as a precursor to happiness is a great and clear vision. This is not an intellectual exercise We are speaking of. This is not getting smarter. Happiness is about how and what you see. Where do you see from? See with a smile and not a pout.
 
Everything you do see and hear does not come labeled as happiness, you understand. Happiness is a twist you give to what you see. In one sense, happiness is your due. On the other hand, you are a participant in the discovery of happiness. It is you who embraces happiness. It isn’t exactly a coat you put on, yet it is something like that. You have to pick up happiness and claim it as yours at the same time as you do not demand happiness.
 
Sometimes you equate happiness with being pleased in the sense that it will come to you just like that, by a snap of your fingers. At the same time, happiness enters of its own accord. Set the table for happiness.
 
In a way, happiness has to come to you like Cinderella’s fairy godmother. She came to Cinderella spontaneously. Cinderella had to notice her Fairy Godmother. Happiness is not a dog on a leash. Just the same, happiness comes to you. When it comes, it may come on a silver platter. There is nothing to it. Happiness is here, and it is yours. You notice it, and you acknowledge it. You accept it.
 
We can say that happiness is a lens that you see through. If the lens of your heart is cloudy, happiness may not be easy to locate.
 
In another sense, it may be necessary to forget about happiness in order to receive it. And it is not necessary that you receive happiness all labeled. You have something to do with the receipt of happiness.
 
Not that you can talk yourself into happiness. However, it is better to be geared for happiness than to sit waiting for happiness to land on you as if from outer space. Yes, sometimes happiness comes like that, and you receive your portion. Happiness is always waiting in the wings for you, yet it is you who has to recognize it and welcome it.
 
Happiness will come to you in many shapes and sizes. Happiness comes already formed at the same time as you compose it.
 
Even popularly-documented happiness events may not decree happiness on you. Celebrations and holidays may make you sad.
 
Yes, so happiness is elusive. It does not necessary come when you call it. Happiness is not stubborn, however, so it must be that you are the one who is stubborn. You don’t want to be stubborn when it comes to happiness. You may have wanted chocolate pudding. It is not a sacrifice to welcome vanilla, or even porridge instead.
 
Become an invoker of happiness. Carry it with you. Walk happily. Do whatever you are doing happily. Don’t ponder so much. Beloveds, you don’t have to know what will make you happy. In any case, be happy anyway. Grace yourself with happiness. Decide that happiness is yours. You don’t grab it, however. Happiness is not to be snatched. Let happiness want to come to you of its own accord. Have trust in it. Let happiness arrive on its own steam. Meanwhile, be happy anyway. Be alive, and be grateful for all that comes your way. Recognize happiness when you see it right here before you. It comes in shapes and sizes. I am your happiness, too. Here I am.
