A member of the traditional Mexican music group Banda El Recodo has been missing since early this week, according to press reports Saturday that the 15-piece ensemble confirmed.
In a statement the band posted on social networking sites Friday night, it said Aldo Sarabia went missing four days earlier in Mazatlan, a city in the northwestern state of Sinaloa.
“As has been published on social networks and in some media outlets, the whereabouts of Aldo Sarabia has been unknown (since Monday),” the group said, adding that “we’ve never had a situation of this nature in the entire history of Banda El Recodo.”
“Aldo is an exemplary human being and musician and so we can’t imagine what could have happened.”
The group called on all its fans “to pray with us for him and his family” and thanked authorities “for all the support they’re providing to locate our band member.”
Sarabia went missing just days after a former member of Banda El Recodo, Carlos Soto, better known as “Jokoky,” succumbed to his months-long battle with cancer.
The band was founded in the late 1930s in Sinaloa by the late Cruz Lizarraga.
