This is a photo of Martin Couture-Rouleau:
Once he had converted to Islam, Couture-Rouleau somehow got the idea that Islam commands him to wage jihad against unbelievers (perhaps by reading the same Muslim sources I quote daily). He is now dead, after running down two Canadian soldiers with his car, and charging at a female police officer when his car flipped over.
French sites are reporting that Couture-Rouleau called 911 and said he was “acting in the name of Allah.”
How many more Western converts need to die waging jihad before we’ll finally be allowed to have an honest discussion about Islam?
Globe and Mail—Two Canadian soldiers in Quebec have been injured in a hit-and-run that is being investigated as a possible terror attack.
Police in Quebec are unsure whether the soldiers were deliberately targeted in the incident, but sources with knowledge of the investigation told The Globe and Mail that the suspect was known to both intelligence and law-enforcement officials before Monday’s hit-and-run in St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, less than an hour outside of Montreal.
The sources said the 25-year-old male was believed to be an Islamic convert who had been radicalized.
One of the soldiers is in critical condition in hospital and authorities are “fearing for his life,” according to the Quebec provincial police. The other victim suffered more minor injuries.
A law enforcement official identified the driver of the car as Martin Couture-Rouleau, confirming an earlier report in Quebec media. Mr. Couture-Rouleau was shot by local police after his car rolled during a pursuit. He died of his injuries, according to the Sûreté du Québec.
The suspect came from St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, and was “known to police,” said Sergeant Michel Brunet, an SQ spokesman, who added Mr. Couture-Rouleau was part of a police database..
Sgt. Brunet said that in addition to the issue of terrorism, the police will also investigate other possibilities, including mental-health issues. “We will comb through [the suspect’s] life, we will see what we find out,” Sgt. Brunet said.
The hit-and-run occurred in the parking lot of a shopping mall. According to media reports, the driver of the vehicle carried a knife. (Continue Reading.)
