Raulito Rodriguez’ ‘La Mujer Perfecta’ Is a Hit

Raulito Rodriguez is making a tremendous splash on the Latino music scene with a new rhythm known as “bachata-banda,” and his number “La mujer perfecta” has skyrocketed to the top of the Hot Songs list on the monitorLatino Web site and remained there for 11 consecutive weeks.

The song, which is the work of Mexican composers Edgar Cortazar and Elyan Zamora, is the first promotional cut from the album “Estoy llorando amor,” which will be released in November.

According to Rodriguez, the fusion of the emblematic rhythm of the Dominican Republic with typical Mexican band music has been very well-received by the public in both countries.

“We were sure that it was going to get a good response. People are already dancing to it,” the artist – born in Ciudad Juarez – told Efe, adding that the fusion of the popular Latino rhythms has come at just the right time.

“I think it was logical. If we wouldn’t have done it, someone else would have. If you look at the Billboard lists, bachata and the Mexican regional genre are always in the ‘Top Ten,’” he said.

Rodriguez also said that the success of the music is due to the fact that both rhythms base their lyrics on popular stories with which the public can identify.

“Bachata is like the Dominicans’ ‘corrido’ – it’s just that its lyrics are about love stories,” said the singer, who first became known as a comedian on the “El Show de Don Cheto” radio program and later participated in “La Voz Mexico 2,” which led to his inking a contract with the Toro Music recording company.

Currently heavily involved in the U.S. promotion of “La mujer perfect,” Rodriguez, who is known as “the little big difference in music,” acknowledges that the support of his fans is what is at last enabling him to achieve his “dream of singing.”
