It raises your risk for all kinds of diseases and puts your body in a constant state of defense. This results in a weakened, exhausted immune system, high levels of inflammation, and a risky scenario for the development of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

 

Now, another risk factor that’s recently been discovered might offer some more insight into why being obese or overweight is so closely associated with these conditions. According to new research, stress levels are higher in overweight people, leading to higher levels of inflammation and an increased susceptibility to disease.
