I’ve chosen two interviews from Terkel’s oral history of death which stayed with me these last 13 years. The first focuses on an impulse that may be among the hardest to understand and yet most moving to encounter, forgiveness; and the second centers on a subject that, unfortunately, is still all too timely: the trauma deaths of young Americans from gunshot wounds.
