What’s The Deal With Net Neutrality? A Simple Primer

So what is net neutrality? Why is it important? Why should it matter to me? All incredibly valid questions. Net neutrality isn’t the sexiest political issue, like same sex marriage or foreign wars, but it is an important one nonetheless. Telecommunication companies like Comcast want the FCC to push for two (or more) different speeds of internet connect. Slower for the standard rate, faster if you’re willing to pay for it. A commoner’s internet and the elite’s internet, if you will.

President Obama recently came out and said that he supports only a single lane, not a fast lane or a slow lane, and that he expects the FCC to maintain current net neutrality rules. Is the fight over? Not quite. It’s still important to be educated on this.
