Who’d want to paint Phoenix purple?

(Before It's News)

Domestic violence has been in the news frequently of late, and always paints an ugly picture. The image of an unemployed beer-swigger in a  “wife-beater” tee shirt has too often given way to high paid celeb athletes who punch out their girlfriends —– who then marry them and defend the thuggish actions.

Here in Phoenix, there is a campaign to raise awareness of the issue as it impacts a broad spectrum of families. This report compiled by the Arizona Coalition to End Domestic Violence states that since March there have been 25 domestic-violence related deaths in Arizona.

Calling attention to this crime is admirable.  What rings the bell on the oddness meter is the method the City of Phoenix is using to promote it.  When the Mayor of Phoenix is a leftie with connections to nationally prominent like-thinking liberals—- including Barack Obama —-  the concept of naming the campaign “Painting Phoenix Purple” has even greater implications.

Stanton has been quoted as saying that Obama told him that red Arizona is an “important state” to the White House. It would be even more important as a purple-tending-blue state.

The radically left daily reports that to heighten awareness of the Paint Phoenix Purple program, purple lights have been placed on top of City Hall, Tovrea Castle and in trees along Washington Street downtown. Window clings and magnets are being distributed to businesses and affixed on city vehicles. The public can join in by putting purple ribbons on cars, changing outdoor light bulbs to purple and dressing in purple on Oct. 15, “Wear Purple Day.

Serendipitous choice of color? The odds are, this was a well thought out scheme, accompanied by more than a few cackles and maybe a retention bonus for the city employee who conceived the idea.
