25 members of Aryan Brotherhood charged with federal racketeering in Miss., Okla.
In two separate indictments, 25 members of an interstate white power prison gang were brought up on federal charges of racketeering in Mississippi and Oklahoma, the Justice Department announced Thursday.
Frank Owens Jr., also known as “State Raised,” and 13 others associated with the Aryan Brotherhood of Mississippi face 10 counts of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, assault, money laundering, firearms trafficking and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, which were allegedly committed in the interest of the criminal organization, according to the 31-page indictment handed down Oct. 23 and unsealed Thursday.
Owens, 44, allegedly held the leadership rank of “wheel” in an inner circle of the gang that issued orders to others in the state. Other alleged top-level members included Perry Mask, 46, Stephen Hubanks, 45, and Brandon Creel, 46, also known as “Oak.”
In Oklahoma, 11 individuals were included in a separate indictment and face four counts related to federal racketeering charges. Additional information in this case has not yet been made public, DOJ spokesperson told Guns.com Friday.
“The Aryan Brotherhood is a violent gang that has seeped from behind prison walls into communities throughout this nation,” said Assistant Attorney General Caldwell. “Working in lockstep with our law enforcement partners and U.S. Attorneys’ Offices throughout the country, we are targeting and dismantling these gangs from the top general to the foot soldier so they can no longer terrorize our communities.”
The Mississippi gang has hundreds of members operating inside and out of state prisons throughout the state and offer protection to white inmates who opt to join the group. Initiation into the Aryan Brotherhood of Mississippi requires sponsorship from a current member and a lifetime pledge to the gang, which began around 1984 and was modeled after the California prison gang whose genesis can be traced back to the 1960s, according to the indictment.
