Finland’s Military Training For Zombie Apocalypse (Video)

A pair of senior military researchers is calling on Finnish defence forces to consider engaging in zombie war drills as a means of rehearsing conflict scenarios requiring cooperation by diverse state agencies – not just the military. In a scholarly article, defence force officers Jan Hanska and Heikki Lantto say that zombie war games may be more beneficial than manoeuvres based on traditional military threats.
Popular media are full of zombie apocalypse plots lately. Major Jan Hanska, PhD and Captain Heikki Lanto have been pondering how such scenarios could be turned to advantage in preparing Finland’s military for possible conflict situations. The duo put forward their ideas in an article in the Finnish Military Periodical (Sotilasaikakauslehti).
According to Hanska a zombie scenario would allow military strategists to plan for situations such as a possible outbreak of disease – and help them to understand how different agencies and authorities would have to work in unison.
Oddly enough the US military and others have already done similar things and have plans in place for a zombie outbreak. So now I have to ask why? Why is this becoming atrend in the world’s militaries to plan for a scenario that logically they think could never happen? It’s kinda spooky really. When your nations military starts training to fight zombies, take notice! Believe it or not, It may have already started…
I am a Finn (“en Finne igen” as the Swedes could say understandingly) and this sounds strange to me but on the other hand, I thought that maybe there is a background fear that makes sense.
If there will be an all-out outbreak of the Ebola or other terrible killer bug pandemic, there will be large mobs of dying but still active people that know their fate but want to take all their advantage and pleasure from the rest of the people and this world in its entirety. There would be countless kamikaze’s around, people that have absolutely no inhibitions. All other, healthy people were in a great danger, and an extreme anarchy would follow.
Given such a possibility, there is not wonder that the military is exercising.
