Coming in the wake of this week’s victories for marijuana legalization at the ballot box, a Gallup poll released Thursday finds that a majority of Americans support ending prohibition but by a smaller margin than in an identical poll the firm took one year ago.
Legalization now leads 51 percent to 47 percent, according to Gallup. In 2013, the firm put legalization ahead at 58 percent to 39 percent.
To explain the discrepancy, Gallup’s Lydia Saad speculated:
Last year’s finding of 58% in favor was recorded as Colorado was preparing to become the first state to implement a law decriminalizing the use of small amounts of marijuana for recreational use. Although the law passed in November 2012, it did not go into effect until January 2014. Americans may have warmed some to proponents’ arguments in 2013 in the ongoing discussion around the Colorado law.
Perhaps, but it should also be pointed out that the margin of error in both polls was +/- 4 percentage points, which could explain much of of the difference.
Noting that the new poll shows support for legalization is much stronger among liberals and those on the East and West coasts than among conservatives and those who live in the South or Midwest, Saad wrote “it will be difficult for proponents to promote legalization beyond the more Democratic and liberal-oriented states.”
That would seem to discount the fact that red-state Alaska just voted to legalize marijuana on Tuesday.
FYI, it’s already legal, everywhere! You however, are stuck in the delusion of the private for profit corporate fiction that masquerades as legitimate government, when they aren’t!
It is your opinion that the CONstitution and laws are applicable to you, you believe it applies to you, you have heard it applies to you, you assume and presume it applies to you, as does every government wonk!
BUT, opinions, beliefs, hearsay, assumptions and presumptions aren’t evidence that anything is applicable!
Where is the factual first hand evidence PROVING that the CONstitution “fed/state” and the laws are applicable to someone just because they are physically within the exterior borders of what we commonly call a state???
Keep in mind that their own laws tell us that SLAVERY AND INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE IS ILLEGAL and the courts have consistently ruled that the PRIVATE PERSON is NOT a party to the CONstitution “fed or state”..
Now, when someone IS NOT a party to some agreement/compact/contract, then they are NOT OBLIGATED to any promulgated laws/statutes/codes/polices or edicts arising from the original contract/compact/agreement.
So here is your challenge. If you believe that their CONstitution and laws apply to you just because anyone is physically within what we commonly call a state.. PROVE IT with your first hand IRREFUTABLE FACTUAL EVIDENCE! Think clearfield doctrine!! show me the contract!!!
We the PRIVATE PEOPLE in the united states of America, have not sworn an oath “like all government wonks have” that would obligate us to their CONstitution and laws!!
Good luck with your evidence, since there haven’t been any judges or prosecutors that have been able to produce any such evidence proving the assertion!!
