Was he shot with the gun he brought?  Not at all clear:

Preliminary investigation reveals that two suspects, one armed with a handgun, forced entry through a door into the apartment, while a third suspect acted as a lookout. Five victims were at the home during the time, including two small children.

Police say the armed suspects demanded money from the occupants. During the robbery, a struggle ensued between one of the suspects and the occupants resulting in the 26-year-old man being shot.
