“This [Ebola] outbreak reminds us of the human toll the threats we face can take…”

After the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the U.S. government put safeguards in place to protect the country from chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear weapons that might be used by terrorists. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) identified a list of 13 potential threats against the United States that were sufficient enough to potentially affect national security. One of these threats was Ebola.

A program called BioShield, created in 2004 and spearheaded by then-vice president Dick Cheney, allocated $5.6 billion to purchase, develop, and store drugs to be used in case of biological warfare. The law that created BioShield allowed the government to purchase vaccines that were already in the advanced development phase, and gave the National Institutes for Health the authority to award grants and contracts for the development of medical countermeasures against biological warfare quickly. This gave pharmaceutical companies incentive to develop vaccines to counter threats like Ebola, which was rare and hadn’t infected very many people because they had the guarantee that the U.S. government would purchase them.

  • Outbreak. Oh good grief. You people have a real hard time dealing with FACTS.

Not one American has died from Ebola.

Not one American who has not been involved in the direct hospital care of an Ebola patient has contracted Ebola. And very, very few of those directly involved have been. Well less than 1%.

Treatment of Ebola patients in the US is head and shoulders above the treatment in Africa that results in a 30-40% survival rate. No one who has been treated here has died with the sole exception of the African fellow who had been symptomatic for many days before treatment.

Ebola is not easy to contract. Witness the FACTS that when the infected African fellow came to the US he infected no airline passengers, none of his relatives with whom he was staying, nor anyone else he had casual contact with. The same is true of the two nurses who became infected, NO ONE ELSE was infected by them.

It is obvious that Ebola is not airborne in the normal medical sense, again refer to the indisputable facts above.

Lastly, for those of you who believe this is some nefarious Obama/NWO/illuminati depopulation plot, aside from the obvious fact that you are deluded, this Ebola scare is completely piss-poor ineffective at killing us off, just in the same way these supposed years of “chemtrails” have only resulted in continually growing life expectancy and population.

Get a clue. Deal with facts. Quit reading baloney fear porn and grow a brain.

  • I’m sorry…..am I missing something?

Isn’t it ultra conservative talk radio host Neal Bortz who makes fun of people who think that it’s governments job to protect the people? YES, it is. He especially loves to claim that women trade their freedom for protection.

And NOW….suddenly….all of the ultra conservatives are doing a 180 degree turn….and are suddenly mewling about needing the government (Obama) to protect them?

    Oh the irony!

For the love God. The US has 317,000,000 and one case of Ebola. Soon to be zero cases. What is wrong with you people? It looks to me like his protecting us from Ebola is maybe the ONLY thing he’s doing right.
