(Before It's News)

Although humans have made great strides in unearthing the laws that govern this universe we live in, there are certain areas of our experience that remain unexplained or mysterious. The following represent the most baffling ten of these mysterious phenomena.

10. Crop Circles

Crop circles are organized harmonic forms that mysteriously appear all across the world, the result of an energy interacting with the physical world – in this instance it is plants. This energy is comprised of light, sound and magnetism. To date, crop circles have been seen in just under 30  countries, and have appeared in mediums such as wheat, barley, canola, trees, ice, rice paddies, as well as linseed. Despite popular beliefs, crop circles are not a modern phenomenon. They were present in academic texts of the late 17th Century, and over 200 cases have been reported prior to 1970.

9. Nazca Lines

One of Peru’s most popular travel destinations is situated in the southern coastal valleys of Peru about six hours from Lima. The small colonial-style town of Nazca is home to perhaps one of the world’s biggest mysteries – a series of enormous and peculiar ancient designs made in the ground, the Nazca Lines. These geoglyphs have scientists asking more questions than answers them. Spread across 75 miles of high and arid plateau rock, the Nazca Lines are made upon of more than 800 scratched straight lines, 300 geometric figures and some truly bewildering stylized animal and plant drawings. They are covered with ferruginous sand and gravel which got its dark patina from years of weathering.

8. The Klerksdorp Spheres

These small, smooth and polished spheres found in a mining region in South Africa, are remarkably regular with well-defined grooves that run along their surface, suggestive of non-natural genesis. Although some scientists offer natural (geological) explanations for their origin, they have not been widely accepted.

7. Déjà Vu

This is the popular and all too familiar phenomena of getting the feeling that you have ‘already lived’ a particular moment in your life. Déjà vu has been the topic of heavy scientific research in the 20th century but there is still a coherent theory explaining it to come forward.

6. Ghosts

In popular culture, a ghost is seen as the soul or spirit of a dead person or animal that can appear, in visible form or other manifestation, to people who are living. Cultures practically in all parts of the world believe in spirits that survive death and are now living in another realm. In fact, ghosts are among the most widely believed of paranormal phenomena: Millions of people are interested in ghost stories, and a 2005 poll found that 37% of people living in the United States believe in haunted houses. Proponents of alternative science argue several theories to explicate the occurrence of ghosts and apparitions and all other paranormal phenomena that go along with it but most of it is unreal and too unfathomable to believe. Actual research tries to psychologically analyze the ‘sightings’ but has not made any significant progress.
