Here’s a 3rd grade student explaining how to solve a “hard” addition problem using the TERC/Investigations method (which is Common Core based) that she learned in school.
I gotta say, she’s a real trooper. I would have been reduced to tears halfway through that 8 minute process – and I actually like math.
