Fire is one of the most essential elements of emergency preparedness. It produces heat and light, two basic necessities for survival. At some point in your life this knowledge may be important. You never know when disaster could strike or you may be stranded in the middle of nowhere with no one to help.

It is tempting to think that because you have used a computer for a long time, you are “computer literate” or “computer savvy,” but this is not the case. One of my friend’s grandmother has a computer, but she hardly ever uses it. If you hardly turn it on, you’re not really making good use of it. Fundamental computer knowledge is essential now a days.
8. Use Google Effectively:
Using a search engine is more than typing in www.google.com, putting a couple of keywords into the big text box, clicking Search, and choosing the first result that appears. If you’re having trouble finding something with Google, it’s time to educate yourself on the basics of Search Engine Marketing (SEM).
7. Perform CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver:
Your breathing and heartbeat can stop for a number of reasons, from heart attack to blood infections to accidents. However, death does not have to be the outcome. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, known as CPR, was developed to help increase your chances of survival. Someday it may be your wife, husband, son or daughter that needs help.
6. Drive a Manual Transmission Vehicle:
There will come a time when you’ll be stuck without this knowledge. Most cars in Europe are run on manual transmission. If you want to drive automatic, you would need to pay extra. And no one likes to pay too much for things, right?
