The Grateful Dead themed Bud + Breakfast Silverthorne has officially opened its doors to mountain tourists. The Mary Jane Group property represents the companies’ second foray into Bud + Breakfasts, as the company also owns The Adagio in Denver, Colorado’s first ever Bud + Breakfast.
While the theme may be hippie, the guests won’t be a bunch of stoners looking for a crash pad. Prices on rooms range from $149-199, but the Kush Garcia Suite is the coup de grace.
If you can’t afford the Garcia suite, there’s also the Lesh Suite, the Weir Suite, and the Kreutzmann Suite named after the other Dead members and “access to the downstairs kitchen means your post-4:20 munchies will be kept at bay.”
Unlike many weed friendly hotels in Colorado, this one actually strives to educate and medicate its guests:
Marijuana comes paired with hors d’oeuvres from a local gourmet chef — good grub is the staple of any après hangout, weed or not — and the product samplings are led by the on-site innkeepers, Mike Roscheleau and Stephanie Colner. The two explain the difference between sativa and indica, recommend edibles for a post-ski nap and, if guests want to just lounge and chat, roll joints for everyone to share while playing with Colner’s Pomeranian-Yorkie mix, Crash. While it’s not entirely clear if the Bud & Breakfast concept is legal, the proprietors aren’t selling weed or forcing it down anyones throats. They’re offering infusions and assistance in a “high-brow” manner.
