And so the December 10, 2014 press release begins:
“Willem H. Buiter, a renowned macroeconomist and global chief economist at Citigroup, has joined the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) as an adjunct senior fellow. His work will focus on geoeconomics, deglobalization, international financial institutions, and global economic governance.” (source link)
Less than an hour ago, the “communications” account of the Council on Foreign Relations tweeted the following:
CFR’s Willem Buiter on #ruble crisis: “For the rest of the world, this is not a significant issue.” #CFRLive
— CFR Communications (@CFR_Comm) December 19, 2014
Perhaps Mr. Buiter thinks the destruction of the working capital of a major slice of the United States shale energy sector “is not a significant issue.” Perhaps Mr. Buiter can explain that the West’s economic warfare against Russia today, following over a decade the United States ring-fencing Russia with NATO expansion, “is not a significant issue” to trade relations with Europe.
Citigroup’s finest.
The Council on Foreign Relations Twitter communications channel has provided the hashtag #CFRLive so the world can follow CFR’s work and to help Twitter users post feedback. Perhaps The News Doctors readers can help the CFR with economic analysis. Tweet a tip or two. Be polite. They’re very sensitive about their agenda for the world.
