S&P 500 profits are 86% higher than they would be if accounting standards of the national accounts were used, Pelham Smithers Associates notes. And the gap between the two measures is widening, the research firm finds. (source link)
So I guess my estimate was off a bit. I suggested at least 50%. Blackrock’s source is asserting 86%. That means that this stock market is BY FAR the most overvalued in the history of this country. Have fun with that one!
Amazon.con is reporting that it signed up 10 million new Prime members this holiday season. Doesn’t surprise me. Amazon subsidized it’s sales with free shipping. There’s a reason they don’t disclose whether or not Prime makes money: it doesn’t. In fact, I highly suspect that Amazon loses a little on every sale. That’s why it recently had to issue $6 billion in new bonds despite it’s heady sales growth…stay tuned…Amazon is the Ponzi scheme of size and scope that makes Bernie Madoff blush in between his rounds of playing “bridesmaid” in jail.
