A near-riot has already broken out in Berkeley, Missouri, two miles from Ferguson, where an armed man identified as Antonio Martin was shot and killed by a police officer after he pointed a loaded gun at the cop. Alastair Jamieson of NBC News writes:
A cop fatally shot a teenager at a gas station late Tuesday just miles from Ferguson, Missouri, police said, setting off angry clashes between demonstrators and officers.
St. Louis County Police confirmed in a statement that an officer from the city of Berkeley had “fired several shots,” saying the cop was “fearing for his life” after a male allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at him. A handgun was recovered at the scene, police added.
St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar told a news conference that the officer involved in the shooting, a six-year veteran, had been placed on administrative leave while an investigation was carried out. The officer fired at least three rounds but the victim did not fire any, he said.
“These are nothing but tragedies,” Belmar said as he offered his condolences to the victim’s family. The officer “will have to carry the weight of this for the rest of his life,” he said, adding: “There are no winners here.”

“Since the dawn of history the negro has owned the continent of Africa – rich beyond the dream of poet’s fancy, crunching acres of diamonds beneath his bare black feet. Yet he never picked one up from the dust until a white man showed to him its glittering light. His land swarmed with powerful and docile animals, yet he never dreamed a harness, cart, or sled. A hunter by necessity, he never made an axe, spear, or arrowhead worth preserving beyond the moment of its use. He lived as an ox, content to graze for an hour. In a land of stone and timber he never sawed a foot of lumber, carved a block, or built a house save of broken sticks and mud. With league on league of ocean strand and miles of inland seas, for four thousand years he watched their surface ripple under the wind, heard the thunder of the surf on his beach, the howl of the storm over his head, gazed on the dim blue horizon calling him to worlds that lie beyond, and yet he never dreamed a sail.”— Charles Darwin
If I had to bet, after seeing the idiots rap sheet, he probably had one or MORE warrants out on his butt and reacted poorly when he saw the cop coming.
If you want to hear a true account of what happened always interview the mother first. I’ve never heard a mother yet say that she thought her son was guilty.
Gee wiz, they sure breed them stupid these days. But I’m stupid too.
