(Before It's News)

Five members of the St. Louis Rams attempted to make a statement Sunday when they entered the field with their hands in the air. But it wasn’t joy and jubilation which prompted them to put up their hands, but rather a blatant act to show their support for Michael Brown.

The field demonstration came less than a week after the St. Louis County prosecutor announced that the grand jury did not indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson for the shooting death of Michael Brown. The announcement led to a re-occurrence of riots and looting in the St. Louis suburb.

The St. Louis Police Officers Association released a statement about the gesture, which said, in part:

“The St. Louis Police Officers Association is profoundly disappointed with the members of the St. Louis Rams football team who chose to ignore the mountains of evidence released from the St. Louis County Grand Jury this week and engage in a display that police officers around the nation found tasteless, offensive and inflammatory.”
