Some Primetime TV Shows are excruciatingly disturbing in their storylines. I sometimes wonder how they manage to stay on air season after season without turning off their viewers. TV shows are supposed to censor the gruesome activity and make it as Pg-13 as possible. Here is a list of 10 primetime TV shows which are quite disturbing to watch and not recommended for anyone with a week stomach.
The Sopranos is an American crime drama television series created by David Chase. It revolves around the fictional life of New Jersey-based mobster Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini). The show portrays the difficulties he faces as he tries to balance the conflicting requirements of his home life and his criminal organization. There was one episode of the Sopranos that aired that was too gruesome for viewers’ eyes. In May of 2006, the show featured a storyline about homosexual and closeted father of two. The show looked at how he ran away due to fears of being discovered and how he was sodomized with a pool stick. Do TV Shows really need to be that graphic anddetailed?
ER was a medical drama show on television that had some of the most disturbing episodes being aired. It ran for 15 seasons and is the longest-running primetime medical drama in American television history. The later seasons of the show exhibited violent scenes and gruesome images. From war, to someone’s arm being amputated to a doctor being stabbed to death by a mental patient. The show went into great details to bring viewers the exact nature of work in ER. We saw Dr. Romano’s arm get torn off in a helicopter accident. Before that, we watched as Lucy lay lifeless and bled to death after being stabbed by a patient. You can’t watch the show’s reruns if you have a week stomach.
Roseanne is an American sitcom that ran from October 18, 1988, to May 20, 1997 Starring Roseanne Barr, it revolved around the Conners family, an Illinois typical working-class family. This show also makes me wonder what kind of family was featured on the show. I would never in the world put my kids with Roseanne as their sitter, nevertheless mother.
The series revolved initially around the life of the Harper brothers: Charlie (Charlie Sheen) and Alan (Jon Cryer) and Alan’s son, Jake (Angus T. Jones). Alan and Charlie are not your best role models. In fact, I wonder how Children’s Society never took Allan’s son away from him. Charlie was the most sadistic man on the show. His jokes were funny, but at the same time too outrageous fortelevision. He is written off the show and replaced with Walden Schmidt, played by Ashton Kutcher. Charlie was killed in a freak accident when his girlfriend threw him on the train tracks. After 11 seasons, the show is coming to an end in 2015. Rumors are circulating that Charlie may return forthe series finale.
This primetime TV show for kids disturbs me to a certain degree as well. It revolves around a groupof friends, teengagers who create an iBlog and podcast and broadcast it to the whole world to see. I particular call out Spencer’s (Carly’s brother) irresponsible parenting skills on more than one occasion. He is offbeat and never acts as a mature adult. This means that Carly is living in a house with no responsible adults. Interesting!
