Darwin had a very important counterpoint to The Survival Of The Fittest theory — he also believed that communities which include the greatest number of the “most sympathetic members” will flourish best and rear the greatest number of offspring.
It is a proven fact that we find delight in acting on behalf of others.
The great ethical religions have always encouraged that. Now, modern science is bearing this out: we are hard wired for empathy.
